Urban Counselor Workshop
the art of counseling: a holistic approach to success
Tuesday, April 24
7:30 am - 3:15 pm
The MACAC Urban Counselor Workshop celebrates over 15 years of providing excellent professional development to school counselors in the Southeastern Michigan region.
The goals of our conference has always been to: restore, refresh, rejuvenate, provide resources and reconnect with our counseling professionals, so they can address educational issues with the knowledge and tools to create great interactions and positive outcomes with diverse student learners.
Past sessions have included: Middle School to High School Transition, Recruiting the African American Male, Understanding Socio-Psychological Adolescent Development, Changing Dynamics in Education, DACA/Undocumented Students, Grief Counseling, NCAA/NAIA Eligibility, and much more.
We start the day with a continental breakfast at 8:00 am, enjoy lunch with colleagues, and top off the day with a raffle of assorted gifts, not to mention pick up a few tips and takeaways on understanding our students. One counselor commented on a workshop last year by saying, “Great information about ways to work with Generation Z.’’
